Trae's Vlog Video Entries From Trae's Blog
#4.5 - The New Grand Tour
| We've been in the new apartment for a little while, and have mostly unpacked, so I thought I'd dig out the camera and record a simple tour of Crysta and my new place. It's not that exciting, I know, but it's the sort of thing that actually does work well as a vlog -- and I know I haven't done one of these in forever. | |
#4.4 - Pillow Fight
| Every year on April 1st VolumeOne puts on a massive pillow fight. This year a bunch of us from No Brand Con decided to go down and join in the fun. I ended up just filming the festivities... because, well, I didn't feel like buying a new pillow. | |
#4.3 - 2009 in Review
| While I documented 2009 less than 2008 and 2007, I did get a lot of stuff on film -- along with a few cartoons. So this is just a simple look back at my personal 2009. Not a bad year at all, all things considered. Not a bad year at all. | |
#4.2 - Ken & Jen's Wedding
| So this last weekend Crysta and I flew out to Washington DC for my sister Jennifer's Wedding. I didn't get much footage, but Crysta did get a little footage for me. This video is actually mostly the toast that my brother David and I gave at the wedding reception - where he talked, and I performed an "interpretive dance" about whatever he said. Yes, I know, we're weird. | |
#4.1 - ReReReIntroduction
| With this video we kick off Season 4 of my ongoing vlog "The Life of the Traegorn." I explain for the fourth time who I am, what I'm doing with this set of video supplements to my text blog, and my general plans for this channel. It's October 6th, so what else do you expect? | |
#3.19 - Kyle's Wedding
| So about a month ago our friend Kyle got married. I didn't make a vlog about it, but I kept meaning to. Fortunately, Crysta had brought her camera along, so I present to you a very special vlog about Kyle and Rachel getting married. Or something. | |
#3.18 - Announcement
| This is a very important announcement that you should watch as something important happened while Crysta and I were in Rhinelander this year. I'm not going to put it down in the text, and you'll just have to watch the video to find out what happened. | |
#3.17 - NBC 2009 Part 2
| The second half of my No Brand Con 2009 coverage shows a bit more of the stranger side of No Brand Con. Behold some odd moments from the No Brand Con Variety Show. Witness the Cosplayer who won't get off the stage (no matter how hard Duct Tape Boy and I try to usher her off). In the end, a 100% successful convention. Footage provided kindly by Cheesus. | |
#3.16 - NBC 2009 Part 1
| I run No Brand Con in Eau Claire, WI. No Brand Con is Wisconsin's Premiere Anime Convention, and we hold it every spring. This year, as I was so busy running around working on stuff, I didn't get to film anything really. Fortunately, Cheesus and Harley were kind enough to send me footage to share with you. For the record, I'm the idiot in the ninja mask. | |
#3.15 - Procrastinators
| Every time that I feel like I'm procrastinating or not as on the ball as I'd like to be, the universe somehow finds a way to remind me that there are people doing even worse at this than I am. These last few days have been one of these times, and I felt the need to talk about it. | |
#3.14 - Stressed
| So it's only two weeks until No Brand Con 2009, and (as convention director) needless to say I'm stressed out. Everything's on schedule mind you, but it doesn't change the fact that things have still been incredibly tense. It's Crunch Time all over again. | |
#3.13 - MarsCon 2009
| This year, like many years before, a bunch of us from No Brand Con ventured to MarsCon (the one in Bloomington, MN) to run a room party. I didn't get a lot of footage, so this video is fairly short -- but we had a very good time. | |
#3.12 - Anime Milwaukee
| I go down to Anime Milwaukee 2.5 in... Milwaukee. It's a rather small anime convention and while imperfect, it was still a lot of fun. Needless to say, I brought along the camera and took plenty of footage. | |
#3.11 - Coming Soon
| TRHOnline.com has been a little quiet to the casual observer, I know. That is going to be changing. This video is a short trailer for my upcoming videos, including 3DO to Go, and Convention reports which should bring a little bit of content and excitement to the site though. | |
#3.10 - 2008 in Review
| I live my life with a camera pointed at it most of the time, so like I've done the past two years I'm releasing a Year in Review video. My life summed up in less than five minutes. | |
#3.9 - Deck the Halls
| As a Greeting for this Holiday season, I decided to dust off an old Pogo variation of one of my favorite Christmas Carols... Deck the Halls. I accompanied myself using my Guitar Hero Controller as a simple MIDI instrument (of course). Hope everyone has a safe and Happy Holiday season! | |
#3.7 - Upcoming
| Just a short little video talking about what's coming up on TRHOnline.com over the next week or so. Nothing super riveting, but hey -- at least it's something. | |
#3.6 - Employment
| I haven't been updating TRHOnline.com as often as I had been in recent memory -- and the reason why is quite simple: I have a new job. But things are a little complicated in the modern digital age when it comes to talking about work. | |
#3.5 - Vote!
| Today is election day. While I have only hopes for what today's results will be, I felt the need to talk about my (and your) civic duty to go out and get stuff done. And by stuff, I of course mean voting. Very exciting, I know. | |
#3.4 - Uses for a 3DO
| Think a 3DO is just good for playing obscure video games from the mid-nineties that no one's ever heard of? Well, guess again! In this video I continue my recent video game theme and show some great new uses for this otherwise forgotten console. | |
#3.3 - Guitar Hero
| Some of you may have noticed that in my last video I was playing a Guitar Hero controller as a musical instrument -- so I decided that I would create a video showing exactly what my little hack could do. | |
#3.2 - Happy Thoughts
| A lot of stuff happened this weekend, some good, some bad. I decided to focus on the good stuff though, and keep things light hearted. From S.T.E.A.K. 2008 to filming the upcoming Fifth Squashing of America to a kick-ass Happy Wednesday concert on Saturday... there was a lot of good stuff in there. | |
#3.1 - ReReIntroduction
| The third year of The Life of the Traegorn launches today, and because of that I have recorded a new introductory video to my vlog. So, with this simple video we launch Season 3 of this very strange experiment in documenting my life... | |
#2.27 - Geek.kon 2008
| Crysta and I loaded up the van and drove down to Geek.kon in Madison this weekend to vend for Rising Stuff, promote No Brand Con, and otherwise have a fairly good time. I only have a tiny bit of footage, but I've done my best to make it appear at least slightly interesting. | |
#2.26 - Stupid
| I don't know how what was supposed to be a normal "drive and talk" vlog got turned into a lesson about how people are dumb, but it did. Mostly because I was dissatisfied with the original vlog, and reshot 90% of the thing anyways. | |
#2.25 - A Quick Drive
| So, I decided to go the simple route this week and turn the camera on while I was driving to the grocery store. The subject of the hour? The regular flyover of fighter planes with the air show, my aging in general, and how Fall is pretty much here already. | |
#2.24 - Vinnk's Reception
| Vinnk got married to his wife Misako last Spring, but as they live in Japan most of Vinnk's family and friends (who live in Wisconsin) couldn't come to the actual event. Because of that, Vinnk and Misako flew into the US to have a second reception. | |
#2.23 - Bloody Murder
| Sometimes you need to regress to about twelve and go out to a park at night and play Bloody Murder and Hide and Go Seek. It's all good fun, and running around in the night. That, and Steve managed to lock himself in a box. You don't know it's been a good night until someone gets themself locked in a box. | |
#2.22 - Creeped Out
| So last week I posted a vlog about how I got my hair cut. Not a big deal -- when out of nowhere it starts getting a ton more views on Youtube than most of my videos do. Upon investigation, I was led down a very, very, very, very, very disturbing rabbit hole. | |
#2.21 - Hair Cut
| So, it's been three years and many, many inches of hair... but it's time to chop it all off. The long hair is now, officially, gone. Well, at least it is until it starts to grow back. Then we'll see what happens. | |
#2.20 - Walk in the Park
| So, I think there's been a bit too much negativity around my vlog and my website lately, and Crysta agreed. That in mind, we decided to go and take a walk in the park right near our apartment. That's right, you should go outside. | |
#2.19-MixBeatProductions
| So my vlog about Kakkoi|Con seems to have riled up the people at Mix Beat Productions/MixBeat Productions. That in mind, I decided to go through their particular concerns and examine exactly what they think is going on. So, come with me on this bizarre little journey into idiocy and total disregard for grammar... | |
#2.18 - Kakkoi|Con 2008
| We went to Kakkoi|Con 2008 in the Twin Cities to vend for Rising Stuff and Promote No Brand Con with a room party. I had a good time, but it was the sort of event that invites a mixed reaction... as there were some staggering issues. | |
#2.17 - Lake Thompson
| Part 2 of my Rhinelander series. These are various shots from around Lake Thompson, the Lake I stay on with my family every year. Not too much to explain about this particular entry other than that I think it's a rather pretty place. | |
#2.16 - Rhinlander Pt. 1
| I sit in a Home Depot parking lot, stealing WiFi from a hotel to upload this. Crysta and I drove to Rhinelander, WI to enjoy my family's annual vacation on Lake Thompson -- this is Part 1 of this vacation. There will be at least a part 2, if not a part 3. Enjoy. | |
#2.15 - Fireworks
| Crysta and I went out with some friends to Fireworks here in Eau Claire, WI -- and we brought our cameras along. Here's the best footage from the two (footage Crysta took looks a lot better than stuff I shot). | |
#2.14 - A Milwaukee Stop
| Crysta and I drove down to Milwaukee this last weekend to go and pick up some of my stuff that I had left at my parent's house. And by some, I mean a whole friggin' van full. On the upside... furniture? Furniture. | |
#2.13 - Annoyances
| There are things that bug the crap out of me, and this just happens to be a little rant about a few of them that are rather prominent right now. Sometimes you just have to let it out. | |
#2.12 - The Grand Tour
| I give a grand tour of the apartment Crysta and I moved into a couple of weeks ago. It's not that long, but then again the apartment itself isn't that large to start with. It should also be noted we still don't have all the furniture we own moved into it yet as well. | |
#2.11 - Wedding Reception
| This weekend Crysta and I drove to the Twin Cities to attend the reception for my friend Topher's (and his now Wife Nicole's) Wedding Reception. It was a good time, and I managed to get a little bit of footage of the evening. | |
#2.10 - Another Move
| On Sunday Crysta and I picked up our stuff and moved out of Zombie House and into our new Apartment on the south side of Eau Claire. Moving, by the way, is a huge pain in the butt. I'm going on record here. | |
#2.9 - Happy Wednesday
| So, I've been behind and I know I haven't posted a vlog entry for a while. Sadly, I got like no footage or photos of No Brand Con, so while I'll still do a full report soon about it, I don't have a nice little "Life of the Traegorn" for you. On the other hand, Cheesus got the entire Happy Wednesday performance on tape. So, y'know what, I thought I'd post that here as a Playlist and let that sit in for Vlog 2.9. In fact, that's exactly what I'm doing. | |
#2.8 - MarsCon 2008
| NoBrandCon runs a room party at MarsCon every year, and this one was no different. As I did in 2007, I documented our now mildly infamous Party. All in all, it was a fun time -- except for one crazy person who should never be given the illusion of authority. | |
#2.7 - Coffee Table
| At the ripe age of 27, I finally got around to buying my first piece of NEW furniture. I know, it's rather sad. Also, I can't speak Spanish. And I'm unobservant. But I sure do finally have a coffee table. | |
#2.6 - 2007 in Review
| As I did back in 2006, I've decided to create a montage of the various moments of my year that have been caught on video. So, here is my 2007 in less than five minutes. | |
#2.5 - Guy Fawkes Night
Monday was the Fifth of November - Guy Fawkes Night for those who don't know. Here at the Zombie House, we decided we needed to celebrate - but rather than do the traditional burning of Guy in effigy, we decided to complete the task that he failed. We burned down Parliament...
Sort of. | |
#2.4 - The Outlaw
| So, it turns out, I've been breaking the law for years, and didn't know it. I found out in the most unfortunate way: by getting busted for it. Loads of unfortunate details (and an opportunity to laugh at me quite a bit) within the video... I promise. | |
#2.3 - Average Day
| So, with very little time to film this week's vlog, I turned my camera on while I was at work, captured this footage, and added the subtitles when I got home. It's just a general update on how things are going, but what the heck. | |
#2.2 - Geek.kon 2007
| A bunch of us NoBrandCon staffers went down to Geek.kon in Madison. Along with the Taeliac Studio crew, we manage to have some fun and look rather silly at the same time on the UW Madison campus. | |
#2.1 - Reintroduction
| The beginning of Season 2 of The Life of the Traegorn occurs not with a bang, but with a whimper. It's not that exciting, but this installment will hopefully not be on the front page that long before the next entry. | |
#1.48 - Driving & Dancing
| I dig out the digital camera, drive around and talk about how I'm moving to Eau Claire on Monday. And then I bust a move... very poorly. On purpose. I swear. | |
#1.47 - F.B. Supreme
| I haven't done a 'Feedback Session' since my 11th vlog way back in December, so I thought I'd dust off the concept again for this particular installment. Watch what happens when I respond to feedback from my viewers... and the other strange people who randomly send me stuff. | |
#1.46 - Geek Pride
| Last week I made a comment about my being a geek and I got a bunch of comments telling me "not to feel bad" about it. I was a bit shocked, as I most definitely enjoy being a geek. Oh, that and it's my birthday today. | |
#1.45 - Road Work
| I drove Crysta back to Eau Claire this last weekend (hence the late vlog). Her entire road is torn up though, which kind of makes the place look like a disaster zone. Oh, and I have a sonic screwdriver now... | |
#1.44 - No Rain Dance
| It hasn't rained so far this weekend. Hooray. Anyway, Crysta and I went out to see a band in Waukesha, we met up with a friend, and I talk about my general plans for the next few weeks. Oh, and I dance around like an idiot. Enjoy. | |
#1.43 - Some Changes
| Some noticable changes have recently occurred (at least in my home life) this last week. I thought I might mention a few of them. | |
#1.42 - Transient Nature
| I've been hopping around the state so much these last few weeks that I barely know where the heck I am most of the time. Seriously, this whole thing can disconcerting. | |
#1.41 - The Northwoods
| I spent the last two weeks in the Wisconsin Northwoods, forsaking most modern conveniences to spend time with my family (my parents, my younger brother, and my older sister). I (of course) brought along my camera and documented a bit of it. | |
#1.40 - Unedited Advice
| This is my quick list of rules you may want to live by. I was in a hurry to get packed (I'm going on a trip for a few weeks) so I recorded this week's vlog raw, without editing, without music, without jump cuts. | |
#1.39 - Chris Visits
| Chris is on leave from the Navy for a week. We got together at Derek's house to hang out on Friday night and had a fairly good time. Well, that and Chris talked about how he accidentally killed a shark once... | |
#1.38 - Bored
| It's a Saturday, and I have absolutely nothing to do today. Because of this, I have been bored out of my frickin' mind. Just absolutely, positively bored. This is what happens when I get a bit stir crazy... | |
#1.37 - White's Wedding
| I have returned from my brief hiatus from video blogs. This weekend I went to the Twin Cities to go to my friend's wedding. Hijinks ensue. | |
#1.36 - Stray Thoughts
| I haven't done a purely random vlog for a while, so I thought I'd revisit the idea. This is the random stuff that I think of on a day to day basis... | |
#1.35 - Moving Crysta
| This weekend I drove across the state and back again to move Crysta (and her remaining things that had been at her Father's house) from Milwaukee into her new place in Eau Claire. It sucks that she's going to be halfway across the state, but at least the scenery is pretty. | |
#1.34 - Suburbia
| I've been back in Milwaukee for two weeks now, and so I thought I should talk about it. And when I say Milwaukee, I mean Milwaukee area. And when I say Milwaukee area, I mean the friggin' suburbs. | |
#1.33 - New Laptop
| I've been back in Milwaukee for a week, but for some reason I'm really not going to talk about that. Instead, I'm talking about how I've finally retired my old Toshiba laptop... and have the first new computer I've gotten since I bought the old one in 1999. Eight years is very long in the computer world, so I'm very, very glad to have my New Laptop. | |
#1.32 - Moving Day
| So, I graduated college, and I am no longer a resident of Eau Claire, WI. I have picked up and moved to Milwaukee in hopes of finding gainful employment (as I had spent the last two years working a job for the University that needs to be filled by an undergrad student). This is the tale of my... moving. Also - random violence against broken electronics! | |
#1.31 - Scavenger Hunt
| Every May, probably since like 2001, a bunch of us have gone out, broken into teams with Digital Cameras, and gone a bizarre version of a Scavenger Hunt. This is probably the last time I get to do this, since I'm moving out of town in a week - so I of course brought a second camera with us to video it. | |
#1.30 - Capstone: Done
| I finished what my Capstone paper this week. This is sort of huge deal, and has been the cause of most of my stress lately - so I'm INCREDIBLY relieved. | |
#1.29 - Old Friends
| Some old friends of mine came to visit from Japan for a week. See what happens when you put me, Peso, and Vinnk in a room together. Seriously... it's mildly funny. | |
#1.28 - No Brand Con 2007
| We just put on our sixth NoBrandCon this last weekend. Here are the highlighted sections I was able to actually catch on video (as I was incredibly busy). | |
#1.27 - Spring & Stress
| Stress builds as the convention looms in a week. I'm not getting much sleep, and there's so much work to do... on the other hand, it's a gorgeous day out right now... | |
#1.26 - Crunch Time!
It's only two weeks until NoBrandCon 6 (the anime convention I co-founded and help run) and I'm a bit stressed out... that, and, ROBOTS! I mean, c'mon, Robots need Hugs too.
Music by To Slay Zombie Newton.
#1.25 - The Raid
Have you ever wanted to interrupt a live Television Broadcast? Well, we did... sort of (TV10 barely counts as Television). A group of us went down and raided a live show with Nerf weaponry - and made several demands.
Music by To Slay Zombie Newton.
#1.24 - Bowling!
I've been in Milwaukee for the last week, and my friend Derek suggested "Let's Go Bowling!" ...so, we did. The problem is, we're terrible bowlers. Seriously, I do mean terrible. Just see for yourself...
Music provided by To Slay Zombie Newton.
#1.23 - Curry Night!
Every once and a while, a bunch of us get together and make a big Curry dish. We did so on Friday, and it was very, very yummy.
Music provided by To Slay Zombie Newton
#1.22 - The Thaw Begins
As spring approaches, things have finally begun to thaw out around here. I decided to take a walk into a local park, and enjoy the nice weather.
Music by To Slay Zombie Newton
#1.21 - MarsCon 2007
I go to MarsCon 2007, in Bloomington, MN, to help run the NoBrandCon sponsored room party. Hilarity ensues... sort of. We meet old friends, make new ones, and make fools of ourselves.
Music by To Slay Zombie Newton and Lt. SNORKEL
#1.20 - Blizzard!
With the big snowstorm on Friday, Beeffalo, Cheesy and I went out and goofed around in the snow. I also learned that a camera lens can fog up just like glasses.
Music by Loreena McKennitt and To Slay Zombie Newton
#1.19 - Rocky Horror
February means it's time for UWEC's annual screening of the Rocky Horror Picture Show, and I get together with some friends to attend. And yes, Calvsie is in a Dress.
Additional music by To Slay Zombie Newton
#1.18 - F'ing Cold!
Negative temperatures are not your friends. Seriously. They are, in fact, the enemy. Oh, and I'm convinced vending machines are out to get me. All of them. And giant hills. Those suck too.
Music by To Slay Zombie Newton.
#1.17 - Confessions
I promised my friend Chris I would get more person in my entries, as I rarely go beneath the surface in what I put online. That in mind, this is my "Confession" -- these are things about me I probably wouldn't say when I'm just trying to be entertaining.
Opening music by To Slay Zombie Newton, closing music by Lt. SNORKEL
#1.16 - Life as Usual
I had this odd idea that I should make a video to show exactly how unexciting things are most Fridays - as if you just looked at my Vlog entries my life seems a bit more interesting than I think it is. So... this is effectively what an ordinary Friday night in the Life of Trae is...
Music by To Slay Zombie Newton
#1.15 - Trae vs. YouTube
What makes things popular on the Internet? I try and reason it out. In the end I come to a rather sad conclusion.
Music by To Slay Zombie Newton
#1.14 - Reality of Now
| Last time I showed you January 2005 - well this time I take you to the present and show you January of 2007. Mostly, just what happens when Chris (on leave from the Navy), Derek and I still do... | |
#1.13 - Flashback
| So I totally forgot that I had shot a video diary of an evening back in January of 2005. So, I decided that I should release this "Flashback" to two years ago, and let you know what I did then. | |
#1.12 - 2006 in Review
| My 2006 summed up in less than five minutes. It's frightening really how often I drag my camera around... | |
#1.11 - More Feedback
| I hold a second feedback session - this time I answer *your* questions. | |
#1.10 - Not Dead
| This video is evidence that rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated. | |
#1.9 - Merry F!@#mas!
| This installment looks at the bizarre holiday tradition known as "F*!@mas" that I'm a part of. | |
#1.8 - A Visit Home
| I went home for Thanksgiving to see my family. This is a bit about that... | |
#1.7 - Snow
| So it snowed, and a group of us took a walk on Friday Night. It's mildly entertaining. | |
#1.6 - Stalking LARPers
| I ran into Topher and Ka-Thunc on Saturday night, and followed them to their Vampire LARP. This is what happened... | |
#1.5 - Revenge
| I keep getting snarky "anonymous" comments in the TRHOnline comment section - and this is my reaction to them. Plus: Comedy Gold! | |
#1.4 - S.T.E.A.K. 2006
| I went to S.T.E.A.K. and brought my camera. All in all, I had fun... and so I thought I'd tell you about it | |
#1.3 - Feedback
| Trae looks at selected feedback generated from his last two entries from comments at YouTube and TRHOnline. | |
#1.2 - The Great Outdoors
| Trae takes you to a park. Geeks and vloggers need to get out more. | |
#1.1 - Introduction
| Trae's first Vlog Entry, in which he tells you stuff. So, you better listen. Dude. | |
