Why Quo Vadimus is Needed in the Real World.
Posted May 20, 2004 - 11:57:17

Things fall down, go boom...So, it's official, as stated in Leo Laporte's blog, Call for Help - the show that got me to start watching TechTV back when it was ZDTV - has been canned. You know, I'm beginning to hate the whole G4TechTV thing even more every day... and that's pretty hard. I swear, the reason I was excited campus cable was getting TechTV was because of Leo... and you know what? I've been watching the few G4 series that they've been airing on TechTV, and they frankly suck. The G4 programming just doesn't click with me, and it never has.

All I will watch on G4TechTV is X-Play, and maybe the Screensavers. The rest? Screw it. It really looks like G4 is determined to drag programming towards the "let's try to be hip gamers" segment, which while it may net them more viewers overall, will frankly make people like me change the channel. I don't blame them, mind you. This may very well be the best thing for them to do as a business, but it still won't make me happy.

Not that I'll notice, I head back to Milwaukee on Friday night. I don't get TechTV on basic cable there, so I won't see the results until my return to Eau Claire in the fall. I just hope all of the people at Call for Help find themselves employed somewhere soon...

I have an Astronomy final in hour or so, so I have to get ready to go take that. I'm not too worried about it, but I have to make sure I actually show up prepared just the same. I was going to do some packing yesterday, but I got distracted. That means not only do I have to study for my History final, but I also have to get packed tonight. Geh... I'm going to be busy. I may go down to Acoustic tonight and study there for a while. I haven't been there in a while, and it's one of my favorite places in town. I figure I want to have a sandwich there before I leave town.

Is good stuff.

Currently the song "Vanishing Cream" by the band Hunger is blasting on my computer's speakers. Lord and Lady, this song brings back memories... It's one of those songs where you remember exactly where you were when you first heard it. Sadly, that memory is me sitting at a computer, BBSing, while the radio blared.

Some things change, while somethings will always stay the same.
