Usually friends stick together when they don't know the other staffers well. I did that with Harley when I joined staff. But that's besides the point. I think they're just friends. Barnes is probably is just a big jerkface so he doesn't have a GF or he doesn't have one for long and Noble is probably way to shy and reserved to talk to girls because he really fears rejection and he feels like his mouth is full peanut butter when it isn't.
But I'm usually wrong but I like to try to give a reason.
I was thinking the punch line before it happened. Lynn has punched a beard off a jerkface, locked a Naruto cosplayer in her trunk, and twisted a guy's nipples at a staff meeting. We know not to mess with her.
Oh god I would be scared to know if the bed sheets and blankets didn't change, I could only imagine what drunk parties, and other acts of nature have been performed on those blankets.
This might resemble a similar story that I was involved with IRL which led to friction among the creator of this comic and a guy who has a really epic Video Game collection.
I got a chuckle from this only because I might have done that where I'm looking for room parties and I'm guessing which one we are. Simply because we're the loud room on the floor.

Well at least the Hotel let's the convention advertise Room Parties in the elevator. That only time I attended Geek Kon at that Sheraton hotel sucked because they only allowed ads on a tiny little bulletin board.
Oh I just realized something. 3 of those girls are the same person in different colored hairs and they are have the same body shape and cosplay. Trae you really ARE LAZY!!!!!!
They could always do what Daisho did at Kitsune. They could sell their stuff like an infomercial. Or sell con survival kits with Hi-C drinks and Jack Links beef jerky sticks(which is manufactured and HQed in the county i live in). Oh and get some soap that exfoliates your skin.
But yea I doubt No Brand had this much trouble for Ambassadors alley.
Those 2 girls behind Max and Phil have been smiling the whole time. That's kind of scary considering they waited in line for hours. I haven't been in a line this slow since Oshkosh this last summer and I was waiting to see the cockpit of a C-5 Air Force plane because that plane was so huge it can carry 5 battle tanks. And even then people were being irritated by the slow moving line.
How can those 2 girls smile through this? Do those girls have souls or emotions? Maybe they're plotting this whole time to kill this con staff.
The truth is maybe big cons like ACEN, Fanime, Comic Con in San Diego, ANime Boston. Those lines will be huge because they are in huge cities. In cons where where this fictional con in Platteville is supposed to be, the lines are likely shorter except for the registration line. But that's not supposed to be too long either.
Wow Platteville. Like River Falls, that's kind of a small town that pretty much relies on its college for its economy. Well it's interesting you pay homage to the town. Kudos for you Trae.
Looking at the names here, it's the volunteer who decided to not show up for his scheduled time.
I notice these three all appeared in the same comic strips that Barnes and Noble are in.
I'm gonna guess Barnes is the cocky kid that no one is gonna like soon. And Noble is actually the kid with the black hair and is silent or usually telling the cocky kid that there maybe trouble. Because well, he is being noble in that situation.
Just a random thought on all this. But since you are the creator Trae, you're going to probably say that I am wrong or make the characters the opposite of their attitude.
Who ever created the Chronicles of Crosarth in the UnCONventional universe, than I would like to buy a copy of a printed book IRL with this creators name in substitute of your name. Because that would be an epic fan treasure.
But Trae you do exist in that Universe and it is created by YOU!! So you have to be the creator of Crosarth in UnCONventional's universe. Your self inserts involve your wearing your Grandpa's hat and you're always volunteering at Bork Con. You even were intimidated at Lynn's volunteer orientation.

Actually that 2nd panel would make for a great joke at an actual cosplay contest for a first year con. Then you end it with a staffer coming up to the stage and then the guy announcing says "Oh I have been informed that our judges are going to decide behind doors now."
Yea I this is how I felt. I hosted a panel and I thought I would have low attendance and I shocked myself, Hell when I had a 6 at the beginning I broke my quota which was 5.
This is kind of how I felt when I ran my One Piece fan panel at 9 am on Sunday of No Brand Con. I was expecting like 5 and I got 6 attendees. So I said that I broke my quota which garnered some laughs and oddly enough as the hour progressed in my panel my attendance kept getting bigger. It was actually a success.
So yea low standards is a good thing when you want a big surprise.
Question. I know this one is going to be and will likely be all humor instead of serious. But will Jenna's death be addressed somewhere in all this or in the future? Not trying to spoil anything but just wondering.
Inefficient? It is creative or actually intelligent floor planning. What makes this funny is that in the professional world, this stuff happens ALL THE TIME!!!!!
And yes Fast food Anime is a very great Vendor like Meep said. I think they are probably some of the best in the Vending world to ever have come to your con.

I love Awesome Roy's expression in each panel. I can really relate to him to that situation. It would've totally been justified if Max kept going on and Awesome Roy suddenly decked him.
Hey Trae why do you keep attending the volunteer orientation? You know how to volunteer for Bork Con? I only attended one for No Brand and hell that's all I need even for Daisho and Geek Kon when I worked for them(well Geek Kon, Mike Frey kind of gave me a older Paul a personal tour). So I'm just curious why you keep attending these Orientations considering you almost witnessed an asskicking by Max.
And that is why I will sleep on a bed with anyone at cons ever. However it was a sporting event in high school that made me not ever sleep in a bed with anyone.
I like this strip already. I remember visiting Wyoming when I was 9. I was at Devil's Tower. One could always have a con at Devil's Tower(the location the aliens visited on Close Encounters of the Third Kind)if they have one in Wyoming.
Well in Max's defense here, no one expects to meet someone and know instantly their mom or dad is dead. I've been in similar situations that make me come off insensitive(maybe I might be), but it wasn't intended to be. Although then again Max is kind of being jerk here in this situation by making fun of Lynn's hair.

well a good amount of Eau Claire knows No Brand Con exists because it made television coverage this year and it had some promo on tv prior to the event as well.
Peter H. Coffin nailed it. I was refercing History of World Part 1 where Mel Brooks said in the Roman Empire segment that he was a Stand up philosopher(actually a comedian) and he was responded by the unemployment lady that he was a Bullshit Artist.
Are you sure you're not intentionally making some humor in this? I mean this is the obvious parents are coming real soon and you're caught off guard gag which is always funny if you can relate some way.
The last caption bubble made me laugh. Because I took have had trouble ignoring voices in my head sometimes. So maybe it was funny in dark way because I could relate when you hear voices that promise you things.
If I could kind of relate to this story in the making my month would be March but fortunately March has been better in recent years for me. But my next fear is June or maybe July.
Also I think it's funny that there is a sign conveniently in the background that points to the Vender room in one direction and the VGR is the opposite.
I once checked a badge at Geek Kon to a furry and it was weird, she literally had to undress her whole cosplay almost all to pull her badge out. Some cosplayers are weird especially when they won't leave their badges out.
I thought I'd share that story since it kind of has some relevance to the comic.
In Monica's defence*being at the real 10th year event this maybe referencing lossely* She and Colleen Clinkenbeard had extra candy from their panel prior to the opening ceremony so she's being generous.
Also she's making the Con Goers like her more so the con goers will say outside that Monica is Awesome because she gave me candy.
Hell to this day I think Colleen Clinkenbeard is awesome because she gave me candy and she was Luffy.
Well when I volunteered for Daisho and Geek Kon back in 09 I skipped both and went straight to work but that was because the staff knew that I already knew how to run those places.

Well you make fights happen a lot in this comic which is suppose to be a gathering of people who should have stuff in common which encourages peace instead of fighting.
When did all the real life fights happen? Because I have never seen any of them happen. The only fights I have seen were the boffer battles, and the random encounters.
I see well I'm just used to seeing that stuff being I visit my brother Chris at UW River Falls enough to see all that stuff. And I used to see all that stuff when my older sisters were in college too back in the day. Also to add, I saw it in Grand Forks, ND at UND as well. So I carry a weird knowledge of dorm life despite never actually living in a dorm ever.
On a side note, shouldn't there be some kind of poster, papers, or whatever on the door to know who lives in that dormroom? I know most colleges do that and I know most students keep those things on their their doors.

Ok so the staff couldn't keep it together. They disagreed too much and the staff disbanded right before their con. And some bitter pranks came out of it too.
So I was reading some of the previous Shiitake con. You mentioned it being huge, so it's interesting the con was canceled. Oh and by the way you spelled cancel with 2 l's lol.
I have no doubts that it's a good car. It's from the Ford Motor Company and Ford has always made good cars from their various companies which Mercury is included in.
But that's the humor in this. You should always assume her dad has a shotgun. I'm actually waiting for this moment to happen because I want to laugh a lot.

I didn't know one could be banned from a con. How do you keep track of who is banned and who isn't? That seems a bit weird considering cons get like 500+ con goers usually.

I was told by a few friends of mine from way in 2006 that I was the one who started the attacking of Duct Tape Boy on stage. Those friends remind me every year around the time.
This ending is much better. It's funnier because it shows the amount of professionalism in Con staff especially in Max. And 2 the guy pretty was made an ass in front of a staffer and knows he's getting canned no matter how much he tries to defend it.
Well The thing is I can't really spot bootlegs well enough and I usually don't see the obvious bootleg icons in the corner. So usually I don't deal with them but instead let the other deal with it if he can.
