I truly did not want to go to Ohayocon.

Don't see what the appeal of going to like eight cons in a year is, and especially those huge ones, yuck.

I usually only go to 2-3 cons a year (with one of the being NoBrand Con, of course). Half the reason I'm even going to begin with is that UW-GB's pretty much got our con pass and hotel room expenses covered. The other half is that I just need toget the heck out of dodge for a few days.

There's a problem with my Mrs. Lovett cosplay already.

Kori says no sex if I wear it.
...but it's just a day, right?

Finally got to see it last night, and absolutely loved it. Sam pointed out to me that the first dress you see her in actually isn't a dress at all: it's layers of petticoats and corsetry, so she's essentially wearing underpinnings as an outfit.

I think that's the best way to go. I loved her first outfit.

Eh - I've seen it on stage, I don't really need to see a version with all the light hearted parts cut out.

Man did we get hammered by Spambots today...

...I may temporarily ban Gmail accounts because of it.

Was that the problem? I thought it was very well done but did not enjoy it because it was sooooooo serious. For some reason I was expecting more of a "Yay, murder!" type of movie than how dismal and gruesome it was.

I've only seen it on stage, but my sister (who is a big fan of the original play) said that most of the scenes with daughter and the sailor got cut -- which are essential to lightening up the story. Without them, it devolves from a black comedy into a horror film, y'know?

oh, i'm sure i don't.

the thing is, if you do your cosplay i won't see it because i'm 90% sure i won't be attending NBC this year. in June i'm going to vegas for my friend's wedding (i'm the MoH) and since that's going to be costing me a pretty penny, i really can't go spending a lot this year.

To quote the great Bertolt Brecht, "Na und?"

Maybe it was a horror movie, but as a horror movie connoisseur it was a hell of a damn horror movie, and the only horror musical that I can think of. I thought it was great.

The problem is that I like black comedies, and dislike horror movies. It seemed like it was going to be more ironic and less horrific than it really was.

No! That movie is fantastic. "That's why we Lutherans use grape koolaid for the blood of Christ". Priceless! And I definitely know people who sound like that, so don't be all judgemental. Watch it for the ridiculousness of the beauty pageant, not for the MN jokes.
