Interesting clips from the article:
"He says he's producing a new line of videos called "Flirt" that will be racy, but not explicit, and could be sold in mass-market retail outlets such as Wal-Mart and Target."
I figured it was a matter of time. Maxim managed to get print porn into grocery stores. (I've read Maxim and I've read playboy. The only real difference is that Maxim hasbetter articles...)
"After sheriff's deputies arrested him, he spent a night in jail. The deputies impounded his Gulfstream jet, his silver Ferrari "
They impounded his JET? That's dedication on the part of the PD, since it must have been a bitch to tow that thing. (I can't imagine they had a pilot on staff.)
Now the crux of the article:
"Eventually, Szyszka says, Francis told the cameraman to leave and pushed her back on the bed, undid his jeans and climbed on top of her. "I told him it hurt, and he kept doing it. And I keep telling him it hurts. I said, 'No' twice in the beginning, and during I started saying, 'Oh, my god, it hurts.' I kept telling him it hurt, but he kept going, and he said he was sorry but kissed me so I wouldn't keep talking."
An admission of rape, with allt he circumstancial evidence leading up to the rape (and afterwoards) written and recorded by a jornalist. Unfortunately, if the 17-year-old in question doesn't press charges, a conviction is pretty much impossible.
Francis' reply (relayed through his underlings in most cowardly fashion) is stomach turning:
"Though Mr. Francis cannot speak to Ms. Szyszka's discomfort during the encounter, other news stories have commented that Mr. Francis is reputedly well-endowed."
AND:
"I don't call Francis back right away, so he calls my editor. He tells her that I have a crush on him, that I have an ax to grind because I am jealous and angry."
Jeeeee- ZUS.
Okay, the article details just what I've always assumed about him. But it's still very noteworthy to see a rich and powerful media darling finally get his after all these years. Gratifying too. The mere act of getting a girl to expose herself while drunk is third or fourth degree sexual assault in most states. (Not Wisconsin, though, where the tavern league has the power of the illuminati.) The fact that they were drunk when they signed the contracts also nullifies most of the contracts. How this guy has dodged the bullet of public disgrace and proscution for this long, I'll never know. Looks like he's been discgraced. Unless Szyska presses charges, he's probably got a year or two more before he fucks up enough to get sucessfully prosecuted, unfortunately. (I think Szyska just might, though. If she was willing to go to the media, she'll be willing to go to the court, and most potential witnesses are named in the article and can thus be subpoenaed.)
An amazing, very thoughtful article.
The morals it has about the diminishing value of privacy and the rise of exhibitiobinism are intersting, but it's all stuff that's been said before. Similarly, the morality tale of an evil and powerful man slowly collapsing under his hubris is a common one. The real moral that resonates with me here is: DON'T FUCK WITH THE MEDIA. As our media weakens and gets bought out by bigger and bigger fish, it's nice to see that moral still arise from time to time. _________________ "No President or country will ever be able to create 'world peace' as long as people keep fucking each other over."
