That's weird. The fact that the cop declined to comment on possible causes is really suspicious. But why PayPal? That's the part I don't get.

There was an explosion, but no explosives could be found...? That's really weird.

And I wonder if whoever the culprit(s) is/are knew that particular window was to the PayPal department?

It all seems very odd, and sounds internal in some way to me.

Odd that they'd blow up the division of eBay that has the best reputation and a much better rating in customer service than the rest of the company.

Paypal isn't perfect, but they actually have a published inbound customer service phone number, and they will actually contact you by phone if there are significant problems with yoru account. While I realizr that service is minimal and basic for most major finance/membership-based services, eBay Proper doesn't observe it; only Paypal does.
